Aire Wharfe Elite Football Centre is excited to announce its new partnership with St Mary’s School Menston. From September 2020, a football
scholarship programme will be on offer to boys and girls aged 16-18 entering Year 12 in 2020 at the school.
This would be a unique opportunity to combine outstanding football development with a full range of options, including A Levels and BTEC
Football Development Officer Sam Dexter has nothing but praise for the scholarship, explaining “The AW elite centre provides opportunities for young footballers aged U6 to U16 to train and compete at a state of the art training facility in Ben Rhydding. The aim of the programme is to provide a pathway for football players that are performing well for their community clubs and want to develop further. The new scholarship program with St Mary’s is very exciting. Its a fantastic opportunity for young players to combine academic study with top level football.”
Following on from this, Head of Sixth Form at St Mary’s School Menston, Graham Priestley, states “We feel that this scholarship is a unique opportunity for young people to carry on with their sport at a high level whilst still maintaining a high level of academic study. It will give access to top industries and also to universities and further education.”
