The lions were back in league action today after what seemed like a really long break hoping to start the new year the way they finished the last.

Facing the unbeaten runaway league leaders Wellington youth. We knew this would be a huge test but the boys really stepped up to the challenge competing in every area of the pitch, the lions were unlucky not to go ahead after a breakaway saw Charlie hit the post, shortly after Wellington went ahead with a beautifully taken free kick.

Half time came and the boys were asked to just keep doing what they were doing and they did just that but after a scramble in the box which saw the ball squirrel in to the corner the score sat at 2-0 to Wellington and despite battling to the very end this is how the game ended.

Wellington are where they are for good reason and we wish them well for the rest of the season. We told the boys afterwards that there were no negatives to take from that performance only positives.

Minster player of the match as picked by wellington was Tommy and it was well deserved for his relentless battling at the back.

Wellingtons man of the match picked by the boys was Leo.

Next week sees the lions on the road to a good Ludlow side hoping to build on this performance.
