RIPPLEWAY U14‘s THROUGH TO NEXT ROUND.

Ekco Whitecaps (1) vs (6) Rippleway U14

Our U14’s played in the Essex Andrews cup on Sunday against Ekco Whitecaps in Southend-On-Sea. Rippleway played in their traditional Red and white striped top with blue shorts and red socks. The manager went with a 3-1-4-2 formation and had one sub available.

Starting XI - GK - Jayden Elliston, CB‘s - Darnell Seymour, Mitchell Ishmail, Justin Correa, CDM - Justin Evora, RM - Rio Hicks, CM - Nicholas Diamond, Thomas Jordan, LM - Romario Payne-Kirton, CF’s - Omari Turner-Mills and Leo Vega

Sub - Reece Hicks

The game started evenly with both sides sharing possession equally, Leo Vega creating the only chance in the first 10 minutes with a strong run past the defence before hitting the side netting.

soon the deadlock was broken,

GOAL!!!!!! (12th minute)

This time Vega puts the ball in to the back of the net. Latching on to a precise throughball from Turner-Mills, Vega ran at the goal keeper before shooting, the keeper however made a good stop to deny the goal but Vega took advantage of the rebound and made no mistake in putting the ball away.

Rippleway were now making the most of the goal, keeping possession and limiting their opponents chances. Diamond with the on the edge of the box unleashed a fierce effort with his right foot which just went wide right of the goal. With half time soon approaching Rippleway continued to threat and their persistence paid off.

GOAL!!!!!! (35th minute)

This time it was Turner-Mills with the goal, Rippleway working the ball well towards the box before it was played towards Turner-Mills, an opposing defender tried clearing the ball but was only successful in guiding it towards Vega who passed the ball across goal and to the unmarked Turner-Mills who had the easy job of tapping the ball in to back of the net.

Half Time score (0-2)

Rippleway made one change at half time, Reece Hicks coming who has been out for 10 weeks with a broken ankle coming on to replace Payne-Kirton. Reece went in to the centre of midfield with Diamond, Vega going out to the left wing and Jordan pushing up top with Turner-Mills.

with the second half starting, Reece Hicks wasted no time in having an impact..........

GOAL!!!!!! (39th minute)

Reece picked up the ball on the edge of the box from Rio and with his left foot curled a beautiful shot in to the top left hand corner, giving the keeper no chance.

Ekco whitecaps soon hit back only 3 minutes later, scoring a header from a corner. Would this be the goal they needed to turn things around?

Rippleway soon settled any nerves with another goal........

GOAL!!!!!! (51st minute)

As the game went on Rippleway kept pushing for more which at times left them exposed at the back. At one stage the opponents forcing Ellis in to a good save low to his right, however he could only palm it out to his right and in to the path of his opponent who played the ball in to the back of the net................(2-4) NO! The referee spotting an offside and whistling for a free kick to Rippleway.

with the last 10 minutes to go Rippleway weren't done there..........

GOAL!!!!!! (60th minute)

A corner to Rippleway soon saw the referee blowing his whistle and pointing to the penalty spot having seen a push inside the area. Up stepped Vega looking for his hat-trick. Vega placed the ball on the spot, took a few steps back before firing the shot straight down the middle with the keeper going low right. (1-5).

Rippleway we’re not done there, their opponents taking the kick off from the restart and playing the ball back to their defence, Turner-Mills chased the ball down and cut out a pass the edge of the box before running in to the area and placing the ball past the on rushing keeper.

The game ended (1-6) to Rippleway who now progress in to the next round of the cup which will be played on 04/11/18.
