After missing out on the league title on the last day of the season, Roma returned today to try and come away with some well deserved silverware.
Having recently beaten Litherland 4-0 in a comfortable victory, it would be easy to suggest something similar today. But we all know that's not how cup finals are meant to work...... don't we?
First action of the match came to Caff from an over the top ball from Cal. The Litherland Dldefender just got ahead and cleared for a throw.
An early big chance for Connor as he was played through by Dylan, he managed to get his shot away but was closed down well by the keeper.
Caff does excellently down the left, latching onto his own pass, he dragged the ball across the 6 yard box and just missed Riley at the back post. The ball came out to Dylan from 25 yards who unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot which was saved well by the keeper.
The resulting corner almost paid off as the ball is scrambled away by Litherland.
Great team build up as Riley played in Dylan, he did superbly well to hold up play and back heel to Callum inside the box, his magical feet went past 2 before dragging it unselfishly across for Caff to finish from a yard out. 1-0.
Litherland began to push on and work well down the right, Alfie with a lovely slide tackle to put the ball out for a corner.
The resulting corner is whipped in well, met by the head of the Litherland centre half who forced it over the line despite a good hand from Noah. 1-1.
Roma continued to be the better team, retaining the ball and forcing Litherland to play the long ball. Some excellent work from Shay battling back.
A free kick to Litherland on the left of the box, the ball was sent to the far post and a free header went narrowly wide.
A worldie of a ball played over the top by Scotty found Caff who put the ball marginally over the bar.
Roma broke at pace from a Litherland free kick, the Litherland defense did well to force Dylan into another shot from distance.
A free kick from 30 yards out was taken by Scotty, he hit it well and was denied by a great save by the Literland keeper in the far top corner.
A cross delivered in from the left for Litherland, Scotty rose high to meet it first but unfortunately turnt it past Noah. 1-2.
Half time.
The first attack of the second half came almost immediately as Caff played a sweet 1-2 with Dylan who makes no mistake as he smashed it low past the keeper. 2-2.
A free kick to Litherland was put just wide of Stevies top corner.
Another thunderbolt of a shot by Dylan from distance as this time he hit the bar!!
Callum produced a great through ball, the Litherland keeper came sliding out to retrieve but he spills the ball and it's put away nicely by Daniel!! 3-2.
Stevie was tested from distance as Litherland were throwing everything forward, he pushes the ball wide smartly for a corner.
Litherland we're digging deep with long balls, Foley was meeting everything with his head and Ryan was pushing the attack from the back.
Another chance for Roma as Cal was sent through but he'd absolutely ran his legs off today and couldn't put the ball away.
And that's the final whistle!!!!!
Roma are the Inclusive Hub Cup Champions!!!!
An honourable mention to Gibbo, our very own marathon man. Missing today but terrifying defenses across the league all season.
An absolute pleasure to watch these boys play and grow throughout the season and this was the least that they deserved.
