Vs The 8

Roma U11s returned to action after almost a month off for Christmas break. Would it be a Happy New Year or would the Christmas hangover still be looming?

For regular readers there was an unusually fast start from Roma today as they came out the blocks flying.

A very early chance for Callum, the first of many, but with oncoming pressure he put the ball wide from outside the box.
Some calm work from Foley over the top and out wide to Connor who played a perfect through ball to Callum who knocked on for Caff and again just wide - some excellent early play.
A freekick 20yds out for The 8 was well saved by Stevie before a later fumble and pressure but he managed to save on the line.
Great work from Connor again played across the box with back spin, this took it away from the defender for a tap in from Callum.

A free kick for The 8 in their own half was played over the top but the line held well for the offside. The lads at the back were finally communicating and it seemed as though the offside rule may have sunk in!
A tremendous kick from Stevie was flicked on by the head of Caff, Dylan was put through one on one and finished with style..... but offside given - debatable and calls for Liverpool council to install VAR at Everton Park.
2 chances in quick succession for Callum but The 8s Keeper smothers well from close range followed by another good save.
More lovely distribution from Stevie out to Dylan who whipped in a vicious cross which Callum almost latched on to.

Confusion at the back between Scotty and Foley allowed a one on one for The 8 but Stevie was out like lightening to smother and save.
An excellent ball from Foley over the top to Connor on the left who played a great pass to Caff, knocked across to Callum from close range and he wasnt missing from there!

Callum quickly turned provider across to Connor at back post but for an excellent sliding tackle to prevent the goal.
A magnificent effort from range by Scotty but the keeper held on well to the ball.

Ryan, playing very confidently at the back, played a killer ball through for Caff to go 1 on 1 but again the keeper forces it wide.

Magic Messi feet from Callum put Caff through but keeper does well again to force wide.

Half time and Roma were 2 up.

Some early pressure from The 8 led to a shot deflected well by an incoming Riley.
A Free kick over the top for The 8 but another fantastic line held confidently to play the attacker offside.

Some continued pressure from The 8 as Roma heads started to get the better of them with some lashing out and eyes off the ball.
A Yellow card was given to Callum for kicking the ball away.... a silly one to get given some of the challenges we had gotten away with.

A strike with force from The 8 was saved excellently by Noah who made himself big and brave with one right to his stomach! He was down for a moment but got back on his feet to continue.

Caff splits the line with an absolute worldie pass putting Dylan through 1on 1, finishing well from outside the box as expected.

A great effort 25 yds out from Ryan which goes just wide.

Some late pressure from The 8 was dealt with well by the lads at the back but a late goal from across the box and in bottom corner made for an almost nervy finish.
