An early, top of the table clash today versus Litherland Elite. The reverse fixture on opening day of the season saw Litherland run out 3-0 winners with their Goalkeeper putting on a MOTM performance.

The game started in usual form with Litherland Elite having some strong possession in Romas half, plenty of strong exchanges and early pressure.

A Free kick off the bar from Litherland seemed to wake up the Roma boys who stepped it up a gear.

A couple of good chances in quick succession for Gibbo, firstly going just wide after closing down the keeper really well, followed by another chance going wide after excellent distribution from Stevie in goal.

Excellent Brazilian feet by Callum and then by Dylan allowed a fine ball through to Caff who swivelled to beat 2 men but just couldn't get his strike away.
Another great ball by Caff allowed Gibbo to skip past his man but again struck just wide.
A quickly taken short corner from Callum allowed Dylan to find space and unleash from outside the box producing another fine save from the Litherland Elite keeper.
The last action of the half fell to Gibbo who was played through by Callum, some fine tracking back by the defender producing a great block.

The half time break came with the match goalless and Roma clearly on top.

Some early exchanges and, as with the first half, Litherland Elite started the brightest.

A throw in down the left side allowed some quick and easy play by litherland, a simple touch and early release into the bottom corner - 0-1.

That early second half goal, once again, seemed to shake Roma into life. Heads were kept cool and held high and another gear seemed to kick in. Rallies of support and encouragement from the 3 lads at the back (Foley, Scotty and Alfie), pushed the boys into a welcomed spell of control.

Firstly, a great stop from keeper preventing Caff from scoring a fine volley. Then another fine stop from keeper shutting out Dylan from a quick short corner.
A good effort from range by Scotty zipping narrowly wide and the boys must've wondered if anything would go their way today.

Caff picked up the ball on the half way line releasing early, wide to Riley. Riley delivered an inch perfect ball across the back line with a calm finish for Gibbo going back across the keeper.

1-1

A half chance came quite quickly to Riley who seemed to slice the ball and hitting just wide.

Another chance went narrowly wide from Caff after a high ball over the top from Foley with Riley sliding in at the back post, unable to connect.
Excellent corner wipped in by Dylan and both Riley and Callum seemed to challenge each other for the same ball. Header went just wide from Callum.

Another display of midfield dominance from Callum saw the ball break to Caff, another tremendous ball through to Gibbo who stays onside for a fantastic finish across the keeper again.

2-1

The ball was played through the middle and the Keeper commits. Its a 50/50 between the keeper and Gibbo. Fine determination from Gibbo led to the ball being taken away from the keeper in no man's land. The last thing Litherland wanted was for the ball to fall to Dylan who finished into an empty net from outside the box.

3-1

The Roma boys were cruising at this point and, not long after huge celebrations for the 3rd goal, the boys went on the attack again.
A great ball through, this time by Dylan to Gibbo who slots home for his 3rd of the day and Romas 4th of the morning.

4-1

A special shout out to Stevie for some great distribution in the first half, Noah for 2 top class saves in the 2nd half and a calm headed, fine display from Scotty in the CDM role.

Roma go top of the league..... but there's still a long way to go.
