It was all eyes on Everton Park for the league fixture against JJ Athletico who had one thing on their mind following being dumped out the cup by Roma just 7 days ago - REVENGE!
With just JP out after failing a late medical it was the Roma Coaches being spoilt for choice and a very welcome selection headache as all boys are in the form of their lives. With the morning sun trying to breakthrough the overcast clouds the temperature was just cold enough to rosy the cheeks.
With the refs whistle the boys got the game underway and found themselves being pressed hard as JJ took the game to the Roma boys. It was a fine move down the right side that saw Joe and Evan linking up with Evan flashing the ball across the JJ goal missing by inches. This was enough to get the crowd fired up and the boys fighting hard. Some hardworking play in midfield with Ryan and Harry cutting out balls through the middle backed up by the ever present John and Alfie at the back saw few opportunities for JJ to get through to Sam's goal. With some changes being made it was Kaden, Tinashe and Shea who came on and a change of formation saw more action coming in the JJ half. With 19 minutes gone the ball fell nicely to Tinashe who weaved in and out of the JJ defence and poked the ball in the back of the net - 1-0 Roma. Quality play from Tinashe. Fantastic!
Just second after the restart the ball was with the JJ keeper who failed to clear the ball effectively and the predatory Shea who pounced and took the ball away from the keeper and slotted it nicely in the JJ net. 2-0. Poaching at its finest.
A rare JJ attack saw the ball in Sam's box and flick up only for Sam to save with his face and the ref blew shortly after for the end of a tough first half.
With no changes being made by Roma for the second half it was a fairly quick start that saw Tinashe giving the JJ defence a huge headache as they couldn't deal with him supported by the newly introduced Kudzai on the left the ball played forward allowed Tenacious Tinashe to bowl through and slot his second of the day home. 3-0. Massive goal from the Little Striker.
As the play continued the Roma confidence grew and we found oursleves being treated to football youd expect to see on a Rio beach with Joe back heeling the ball onto Evan who back heeled it up the line, SAMBA.
Not satisfied with a brace it was Tinashe again through one on one with the keeper who buried it in the JJ net for his hatrick. The Roma Ultras roared as Tinashe wheeled away in delight.
With the game reaching the end it was a well worked goal that beat Sam to finish the game 4-1 to Roma.
An excellent team display and Tinashe getting a well deserved MoM.
A great time to be a Roma fan. We are being treated to world class football at the moment.
